
Yesterday, on January 24, The European Water Jetting Institute (EWJI) actively participated in the latest meeting of CEN/TC 197. The institute, which has been a part of the ‘Pumps’ group since January 2021 as a Liaison Partner, played a crucial role in discussions centered around standardization in the field of safety and various aspects of pumps and pumping machinery.
CEN/TC 197 “Pumps” operates with a focus on standardizing the safety and other aspects of pumps and pumping machinery. The committee is divided into five subcommittees, namely WG1 – Water pumps efficiency; WG2 – Circulation pumps; WG5 – High-pressure water jet machines – Safety requirements; WG6 – Vehicle cleaning appliances safety standard; and WG7 – Pumps and pump units for liquids.
During the virtual plenary meeting held on January 24, 2024, CEN/TC 197 “Pumps” made several unanimous decisions. Among these decisions were the approval of a report from October 19, 2023, adoption of a draft agenda, appointment of a decision drafting committee, modification of a Secretariat report, launch of a ballot for the revision of EN 809, management of liaisons with various technical committees, establishment of a liaison with CEN-CLC/JTC 24 on the Digital Product Passport, and finally scheduling of the next plenary meeting for January 22, 2025.
