The president of S3C, Mr. Stuart Harwood, will be involved in the conference program of the EWJI Annual Convention 2017 explaining the main aspects of this association.
From a farming background, Mr. Stuart Harwood first came into contact with high-pressure pumps when the pig unit where he was employed turned to high health status and as such required that all pens were cleaned between each batch.
As the unit got bigger it soon became evident that the small jetting units on the market were never designed for intensive use.
A chance meeting with two people who became friends led to a close working relationship with flexion hydraulics which led to Harben Systems and at last a reliable high-pressure pump.
With the help of his then employers, Mr. Stuart Harwood founded the French company PBS early 1972 and because of its success, moved permanently to France late 1973.
From that date onwards they concentrated on the assembly and distribution of industrial jetting units, both mobile and fixed in continuous production units.
Following pressure from customers, they established a specialized rental fleet which today represents an important part of the business.

Convinced from an early age in the advantages of cooperation, PBS became a founding member of SYFFA (Syndicat National des Fabricants et Fournisseurs) the French Manufacturers Association, federated with FNSA (National Federation of Drain and Industrial Cleaning and Maintenance) giving them direct access to their potential customers, allowing joint and open discussions on all technical problems and a lot more weight in negotiations with official bodies.
A surprise election elevated him to the Presidency (Chairmanship) in 1992 which gave him the responsibility of negotiating for the whole of their industry, sometimes with surprising results. He refused reelection in 2009 in order to allow him to concentrate on S3C and of course the running of his company.
Having been in contact with SIR for several years, he, with a lot of help from others, started the S3C as an independent association to promote safety and good practices in the industry in 2008.
After a difficult start, several contractors became interested and were closely followed by TOTAL and EXXON Petroleum. He retired from his company in March 2016 and now devote a large part of my time to S3C.
