WJTA appoints Micheal Johnson as first CEO
The WaterJet Technology Association (WJTA) has announced the appointment of Micheal Johnson as its first chief executive officer, marking a significant milestone for the organization. Johnson, an industry veteran with more than 28 years of experience in hydroblasting and industrial cleaning, will officially assume the role on August 18, 2025.
The decision comes as WJTA embarks on a new strategic plan aimed at expanding programs, growing its membership, and entering new markets. For over 40 years, the association has been a leading advocate for safety and technology in waterjetting, industrial cleaning, and industrial vacuum applications.
“I’m very excited to begin working with the WJTA and its members. The safety and wellbeing of the workers in our industry has always been a passion,” said WJTA CEO Micheal Johnson. “I see incredible opportunity in this role to positively impact the men and women working in our industry, while helping member companies address the challenges they face.”
WJTA Chair Kerry Siggins emphasized the importance of Johnson’s leadership in the association’s ambitious vision. “The association’s board of directors has developed an ambitious strategic plan to ultimately elevate the perception of industrial cleaning to that of a skilled craft,” said Siggins. “Mike’s leadership will be crucial in developing the programs and support to realize this vision.”
Johnson will be formally introduced to members at the 2025 WJTA Conference & Expo in New Orleans. As part of the event, he will deliver the opening keynote at 9:00 a.m. on November 6, which will include updates on WJTA’s strategic plan, new initiatives, and the biennial awards presentation.
