What Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) should be used?

In order to protect the workers from the inherent risks associated to water jetting jobs, they must wear the adequate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), according to the type of work being performed, which must be provided by their company or the contracting company for specific hazards as agreed on contracts. As high-pressure water jetting is very hazardous, suitable PPE should always be worn regardless of other control measures in place.

Workers must use or wear the equipment in accordance with state regulations, company regulations or specific regulations (risk assessment) stipulated in the working permit; and they must not intentionally misuse or damage the equipment.

The most common PPEs used in this type of works are:

  1. Head protection.
  2. Eye protection.
  3. Hearing protection.
  4. Body and legs protection.
  5. Hands protection.
  6. Respiratory protection.
  7. Foot protection.
